Wednesday, October 18, 2017 Agenda:   Quickwrite  II-sentence analysis: Hazlitt and "Reapers" Poem Argumentation Homework: Vocabulary Exercise 4 "Investing in Fast Food" (pg.84-85)----->Precis and 2 points of seeking common ground with opponents Today in class, we started with our timed Quickwrite #18 (20 minutes):       "To be in want of [money] is to pass through life with little credit or pleasure; it is to live out of the world, or to be despised if you come into it..."          Consider Hazlitt's position on the importance of having money. How true or relevant is his perspective? Support your argument with examples from your reading, observations, or experience. We then briefly looked at "Investing in Fast Food" (pg.84-85) in textbook.

Agenda APTP #18 : Diction Multiple Choice : “Self Reliance” • Hazlitt’s “On the Want of Money” Rhetorical analysis : “Reapers” Homework Vocab ex. 3 (due Friday) 11 sentence analysis of Hazlitt Today in class we looked at Sandra Cisneros, “Tepeyac” and identified the effect of her choice of diction. In our discussion we established that “dusty” implied stillness and spacious rather than moving and in a cluster. We also said that the baldness of the light bulb meant that it was standing on its own and undecorated.
